After completing his education, Tyagarajan began his career with the Tata Administrative Service, where he worked in various roles for several years. He then moved to GE Capital and worked in various leadership positions in India and the United States.


In 2005, Tyagarajan joined Genpact as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development. He was later appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of the company in 2009, and in 2011, he was appointed as the CEO.


Under Tyagarajan's leadership, Genpact has grown significantly, both in terms of revenue and global footprint. He has been instrumental in expanding the company's services beyond its core finance and accounting services, into areas such as analytics, digital transformation, and customer experience.


Tyagarajan is also known for his focus on developing talent within the organization. He has implemented several initiatives to foster employee growth and development, such as the Genpact University and the Lean Digital Academy.
